Services The Safe and Sound Protocol and the Rest and Restore Protocol

Some of the most powerful work I offer doesn’t happen in my office. It happens in your living room. In your child’s bedroom. In the quiet of a Sunday morning before anyone else is awake.
We meet once to get you set up on the app. After that, you listen at home on your phone or tablet.
Most people start at 5 minutes or less and work up to a maximum of 30. No homework. No worksheets. Your only job is to listen.
Both protocols are open to anyone living anywhere in North Carolina.

Your body reads the world for cues of safety thousands of times a day.
A lot of that reading happens through sound, especially the human voice.
When life has taught your system to stay on guard, it starts hearing ordinary moments as threats.
These two protocols work on that channel directly, through listening instead of talking.
The Safe and Sound Protocol was developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, Professor of Psychiatry at UNC Chapel Hill and the neuroscientist who created Polyvagal Theory.
It uses specially filtered music to re-highlight the sound frequencies your system reads as safety.
You listen for roughly five hours total, done gradually, at your own pace.
Here’s what I watch happen as people move through it.
The SSP is a good fit for anxiety, emotional dysregulation, and trauma histories.
It’s also a good fit for sensory processing differences and neurodivergence, including autism.
You don’t need a diagnosis to start.
The Rest and Restore Protocol was developed by Anthony Gorry and Dr. Stephen Porges. It uses rhythmically structured sound to engage the parasympathetic pathways your body depends on for repair and recovery.
Chronic stress keeps the activating side of your system running while the restoring side never catches up. Your sleep quits replenishing you even when you get the hours.
Here’s what clients describe after working with the RRP.
Rest that actually leaves them rested.
Energy coming back after the kind of exhaustion sleep alone hadn’t touched.
A body poised for response for years beginning to let go.
A settled quiet they hadn’t felt in a long time.

Therapy works on what happened to you and resolves the emotion underneath it.
The protocols work on the physiological state you’re in while we do that.
A body that feels safe takes in the work more readily.
A body that has genuinely rested has more capacity for the hard parts.
Many of my clients run one of these protocols alongside their regular sessions.
The difference in momentum is notable.
Come for therapy, come for a protocol, or come for both.

You’ve waited long enough for the feeling to catch up to the understanding.
Email me and we’ll find a time to connect by phone for a free 15-minute consultation. You’ll get to know me a little, and we can both tell whether we’re a good fit for this work.
